Albemarle - Mary Louise Lovelace, age 89, of Albemarle, NC, formerly of Shady Spring, WV, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025 with her daughter by her side.

Born April 1, 1936, in Green Cove, VA, she was the daughter of the late Lester Sturgill, who raised her as his own and the late, Ruby Proffitt Sturgill.

Mary Lou was a machine operator at the Bata Shoe Factory but later became a homemaker when her son, Jason was born. She loved family gatherings and attending bluegrass festivals with her husband, "J.C." who also played at those festivals. Her family was her life.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Clarence "J.C." Lovelace and a son, Jason Lovelace.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Robin Pack and her husband, Terry, of Albemarle, NC; her grandchildren: Jeremy Pack of New Bern, NC, Shane Pack and his wife, Lindsay of Marshville, NC, Leah Starnes and husband, Nick of Norwood, NC, Jake Lovelace of Red Lion, PA and Haley Lovelace of Red Lion, PA; great grandchildren: Greyson, Elijah, Delilah Pack and Rogan and Elora Starnes. A sister, Dreama Tolbert and husband Dan of Beckley, WV; three brothers, Benny Sturgill and wife Brenda of Surveyor, WV, R.C. "Hoppy" Sturgill of Crow, WV and Herman Sturgill of Cool Ridge, WV.

Services will be held at the Amos E. Quesenberry Funeral Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home on Monday, August 25, 2025 at noon with Rev. Garry Hall officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.

A private entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in Beckley, WV.
