Missouri City, TX - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Marietta (Ward) Gray, who passed away on February 26th, 2026, at the age of 92. Marietta was born to the late Henry and Mary Etta Ward on November 17th 1933 in Beaver, West Virginia. After graduating from Shady Spring High School, Marietta moved to Michigan where she worked as a secretary at Ford Motor Company for many years. It was there that she met and married her husband, the late James F. Gray, Sr. They made their home in Milford, Michigan where they raised their family. Marietta was very active in her church and her community, participating in many civic events. Marietta loved knitting, crocheting, playing card games and gardening.


She is survived by sons James F. Gray, Jr and Barry Gray, daughters Melissa Lange and Michelle Cook, and grandchildren Lisa Aggers, Jennifer Grantham, Jillian Lange, Alex Lange, Warner Cook, and Emily Cook. There will be a graveside service at the Union Grove United Methodist Church in Hillsborough, NC on May 2nd at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a small donation to the Highland United Methodist Church, Raleigh, NC.
