Lexie Lucille Ferguson Obituary

Summersville - Lexie Lucille Ferguson, 98, of Summersville, passed away June 8, 2026, under the care of her family, Kanawha Hospice, and wonderful caregivers in her home after a long period of declining health. She was the daughter of the late Guy and Lola Lusk and was born in Smokemont, NC., April 23, 1928. Lucille was a member of the Summersville Baptist Church. She kept the bookkeeping records of her husband's early mining businesses along with a period of owning a Firestone Tire Store in Richwood. She will be fondly remembered as a Secretary at Richwood High School for many years as her children were growing up.


Lucille was preceded in death by her husband James H. Ferguson, to whom she was married for more than 67 years. She is survived by two sons, Richard Bruce Ferguson and wife Pam and James Steven Ferguson and wife Joy, all of Summersville; a daughter Marsha Jane Harris of Daniels; a sister Ann Spencer of Richwood and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Lusk of Charleston and Sheila Morris and husband David of Knoxville, TN., eight grandchildren - Jamie Mann (Amy), Chad Mann (Kelli), Clint Ferguson (Tara), Katie Smith (Nate), Jessica Simpkin (Ben), Jenna Keiper (Brandon), Jan Ferguson, and Jake Ferguson. Lucille had 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.


Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday June 15th at the Summersville Baptist Church with Pastor Dana Gatewood officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Richwood.

Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. until service time on Monday.
