Shady Spring - Kile Lewis Farmer, age 82, of Shady Spring, WV, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

He was the son of the late Burl and Eva Mae Farmer. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Freda Farmer, Betty Huff and Patsy Covey.

Kile was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He served in combat in the Vietnam Conflict, receiving the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service in connection with ground operation against hostile forces.

Among his proudest honors was being named as an honorary Deputy of the Summers County Sheriff's Department by Sheriff Garry E. Wheeler, a distinction he held close to his heart. Kile was a member of New Haven Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 58 years, Nancy Wiseman Farmer; a daughter Christine Farmer Lanham; two sons, Jason (Stacey) Farmer and John (Lorie) Farmer. The family is especially grateful for Lorie, his daughter-in-law, whose devoted care and presence brought him so much comfort.

Kile is also survived by brothers, Marvin (Lilia) Farmer, Arlie (Daria) Farmer, and Rex (Nola) Farmer; a brother-in-law, Charles Covey; a sister-in-law, Midge Wiseman. He was a proud grandfather and great grandfather. Kile is also survived by his beloved dog, Daisey.

Funeral services will be conducted to Celebrate The Life Of Kile Lewis Farmer on Monday, August 17, 2026 at 1:00 PM, at the Amos E. Quesenberry Peace Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley, WV. Pastor Greg Lilly and Rev. David Taylor will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM until service time on Monday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.
