Donny "Don" Kay Price Obituary

Eastover, NC - Donny "Don" Kay Price, 82, of Eastover, North Carolina passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He loved God and his family above all things including golf, NASCAR, spending time at the beach, and West Virginia Football. Don never knew a stranger and will be remembered most for his kindness, generosity and witty sense of humor.

Born on December 28, 1942, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Don grew up as the oldest son of Dominico "Meme" and Irene Price and brother to Sharon, LaVon, Tony, and Melissa. Don married his high school sweetheart, Karen, on August 29, 1961, in their hometown of Oak Hill, West Virginia shortly before joining the United States Air Force.

After serving four years in the United States Air Force, 482nd Fighter Squadron and completing a tour in Pakistan, Don and Karen decided to settle down in Fayetteville, North Carolina in 1965. At the recommendation of a close family friend, Don began working as a car salesman at LaFayette Ford where he rose through the ranks of business, eventually becoming the sole owner of the company in 1995.

Prior to retiring after 50 years in the automotive industry, Don not only grew and maintained a thriving business, but never forgot about the community that helped him achieve so much during his life. He was an active member of Salem Methodist Church, the Fayetteville Kiwanis Club, Eastover Civic Club, Ft. Bragg and Pope Air Force Base Special Activities Committee, and was a past chairperson for the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce's Military Affairs Council.

In celebration of his service to his community, he received many recognitions including: Honorary Commander for the US Air Force's 440th Airlift Wing and the 3rd Aerial Port Squadron, Order of the Long Leaf Pine, Ford Motor Company's Salute to the Dealers Award, North Carolina Automobile Dealers Association's nominee for the 2009 Time Magazine Dealer of the Year award, and becoming an honorary graduate of Methodist University.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Karen; daughter, Kim Price Fisher (Mark); son, Tim Price (Heather); grandchildren, Addison Fisher Cummings (DJ), Cayley Fisher, Drew Price, Ashley Price, Alyssa Dean (Ricky), Trey Gordon (Brandon); great grandchildren Jordan Dean, Kyle Dean; brother Tony Price (Susie); sisters Sharon McClung, LaVon Berthelot, and Melissa Hinte (Eddie); and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and son, Stephen.

A service to celebrate Don's life will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Salem Methodist Church (2165 Middle Road, Fayetteville, NC 28312). Visitation with the family will be at the church from 11:30am-1:30pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 2pm. Burial will follow at 3pm at Lafayette Memorial Park and Mausoleum (2301 Ramsey St, Fayetteville, NC 28301).
