Cleo Roach
"2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
Zetta Mae "Cleo" Willingham Roach, 91, of Mullens went to her Heavenly home on January 10, 2020, at the Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, surrounded by her family.
Cleo was born May 6, 1928, in Wise, VA, to the late Narvil and Nellie Mullins.
Cleo was a devoted and faithful member of the Herndon Freewill Baptist Church for 42 plus years, where she was the oldest female member; she was a member of the Women's Auxiliary where she served as past treasurer for many years. Cleo had a deep love not only for her family but for her church family and longed to attend when her health permitted. She loved God and reading his Holy Word and after her eye sight failed, her children would read the Bible to her every day.
With her health failing and in her final days, Cleo was quoting her favorite scriptures and sometimes the whole chapter.
On July 7, 1972, Cleo married the love of her life, Ray Roach, and these were the best of days of both of their lives.
Cleo was preceded in death by her first husband, Cleve Willingham; second husband, Ray Roach; son, Benny Willingham; Ray's daughter, Jean Roach Simpson; and granddaughter, Julia Willingham Lawson.
Proverbs 31:28 "Her children arise up and call her blessed," her children left to cherish her memory include her sons, James Willingham and his wife, Ann, Jerry Willingham and his wife, Brenda, Joe Willingham and his wife, Elizabeth, David Roach and family; daughters, Judy Walls and her husband, Jack, Jeanie Sanger and her husband, Bobby; and daughter-in-law, Edith Willingham and family; grandchildren, Jimmy Willingham, Theresa Owens, J.D. McGrady, Nick Runion, Susanna Eller, William Willingham, John McGrady, Jared Willingham, Joanna Varney, Joel Runion, and Brantley Sanger; twenty-two great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
When we pause to remember Cleo, we shall remember her as a sacrificial mother, an honorable wife, and devoted Christian.
Services will be 12 Noon Monday, January 13, 2020, at the Herndon Freewill Baptist Church, Herndon, with Rev. William O. Tolliver and Rev. Richard Massie officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton.
Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, January 12, 2020, at the Herndon Freewill Baptist Church, Herndon, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
