Billie June Davis Bonds Obituary

Beckley - Billie June Davis Bonds, 91 and 11 months of Beckley, West Virginia, gained her heavenly wings on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025 surrounded by her loving family after a short illness.

She was born at Wyco, WV on December 2nd, 1933, the daughter of the late John Kenneth Davis, and Bonnie Aliene Pierce Davis. She was a twin to her sister Barbara. Billie was raised in a coal camp at Wyco, WV, and then moved to her grandparents boarding house in Shady Spring, WV when her father was drafted into the US Navy during WW2. At the age of 12 they moved to another coal camp at Glen White, WV where she lived until she married. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School class of 51. She was very active in all of the following class reunions until the final reunion gathering of 72 years. She met her future husband Allen Bonds Jr. at the Macarthur skating rink. They were married on April 20th, 1957 at the Glen White Missionary Baptist Church. They were married for 33 years before his passing in 1991. She worked one of her first jobs at the G.C. Murphy Company Department Store in Beckley, WV as a candy girl. She then worked for Slab Fork Coal Company at the Company Store, befriending many families there including Bill Withers, and Governor Gaston Caperton. She always made sure that she gave them a piece of candy when they visited the company store as young boys. Later on in years she was employed of both Plaid Stamps, and Green Stamps redemption stores. She was a member of the Beckley Fire Department Woman's Auxiliary, a former member of the Beckley Moose Club Women of the Moose Auxiliary member of the Memorial Baptist Church for most of her life, and attended special functions at Mabscott and First United Methodist Churches. She loved to meet people and never met a stranger. "She was a gift of laughter" per her senior yearbook. She loved retail therapy and being out with the public as a social butterfly. She was a classy sassy woman who always dressed to the 9s. She loved to bake cakes and goodies, and her famous peanut butter fudge. She won a blue ribbon at the West Virginia State Fair for her legendary biscuits in 1991.

In addition to her parents she is greeted just outside the Eastern Gate by her husband of 33 years Allen Bonds Jr., youngest sister Carolyn Davis, her grandparents Ora, and Conley Piece, and Nevada "Mimmi", and Bob Davis.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Cynthia "Cindy Parker and husband Gary, Kimberly "Kim" Bonds and partner James Wooden; grandson Patrick Parker and wife Kim; great-grandson Braxton Parker all of Beckley, WV; sister Barbara Clifton of Roanoke Va; favorite niece Melissa Corell and husband Kevin of Salem Va; nephew Jonathan Clifton of Virginia; best friend of 73 years Elizabeth Steele of Madison, WV, beloved cats Sheba, Freddy, and Felix and many other great-nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who will all miss her dearly.
