Wilomene Welch Skaggs, 95, of Bluffton, SC, formerly of Anted, WV, died peacefully Sunday, September 24, after an extended illness.
She was born October 21, 1921 to Frederick Welch and Janie Davis Welch.
Wilomene was a member of the Ansted Baptist Church where she taught the Naomi Bible Class for many years. She was also a member of the church choir.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Garland Skaggs, two brothers: Fred Welch, who was killed in World War II, and Kenneth Welch, and a great grandaughter Sydney Grace Bennett.
She is survived by her son, Barry Skaggs (June) of Big Bend, WV and her daughter Cathy Roberts (Brenzil), with whom she made her home, in Bluffton, SC. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Sean Skaggs (Amy), Lance Gabriel Skaggs (Jennifer), Holly Skaggs, Kevin Roberts (Angie), Heather Feltner (Joel), and Leah Kidd and fiance' Justin Eades.
She is survived by 14 great grandchildren: Lincoln Skaggs, Landon Skaggs, Levi Skaggs, Makaila Roberts, Abriella Roberts Maya Roberts, Kelsea Bennett, Nathaniel Bennett, Adam Bennett, Grace Bennett, Eli Feltner, Jayden Kidd, Gabriel Kidd, and Isabella Kidd. She is also survived by a sister, Kitty Trippany and a brother, Norman Welch. Her family was the light and joy of her life.
Services will be held Friday, September 29, at 1:00 PM at Ansted Baptist Church with grandson Sean Skaggs officiating. Friends and family may call from 11 to 1 at the church.
