William Stumbo William Joseph Stumbo, age 83, of Cool Ridge, WV, passed away at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley on Friday, January 11, 2019.
Born on April 3, 1935, at Davin, WV, he was the son of the late William Hassel Stumbo and Bonnie Barb Stumbo, and was the step son of the late Gladys Stumbo.
Mr. Stumbo was a retired coal miner, and a member of Memorial Freewill Baptist Church at Egeria. He enjoyed hunting, and mostly fishing. Mr. Stumbo was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 59 years, Norma Doss Stumbo.
A daughter, Jennifer Garrett of Daniels, five sons, William Stumbo of Greenville, NC, James Stumbo and wife Melissa of Harmony, NC, John David Stumbo of Daniels, Glenn Stumbo of Cool Ridge, and Michael Stumbo and wife Jennifer of Greenville, SC.
A half brother, Bill Stumbo of Shrewsury, PA, two half sisters, Alice Schultze and husband Paul of Waynesboro, Va., and Judith Haley and husband Jerry of Fayetteville, NC; a step sister, Jean Brocato and husband Ray of Jacksonville, FL.
Eleven grandsons, four granddaughters, three great granddaughters, and two great grandsons also survive.
A memorial service will be held at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at 3 PM with Rev. Orville Setliff officiating. Friends may visit with the family thirty minutes prior to the services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
