It is with great sadness that the family of William Marshall Birchfield announces his passing on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at the age of 64 years.
Marshall will be lovingly missed by his wife, Cathy, of 43 years, his children, Kelli (Bobby) Banerjee, Rebecca (Kenny) Williams and three grandchildren, Braeden, Wyatt and Morgan. He will also be fondly remembered by his sisters, Bonnie Halsey and Patty Hyatt, and his brother, Buddy (Delma) Birchfield.
Marshall was predeceased by his parents, Elliot and Ada Birchfield, his sisters, Dorothy, Vera and Drema and brothers-in-law, Clinton and Gerald.
He will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Born in Mullens, WV, a 1971 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Marshall served in the United States Navy and was a retired employee of Alpha Natural Resources, spending most of his career in the coal and coal quality field.
He was an outdoorsman, avid hunter and fisherman that enjoyed every moment with his family, children, grandchildren and friends. He recently retired to North Carolina but his heart remained in West Virginia where he raised his family.
A funeral service will be held at Glen View Baptist Church in Glen View, WV, on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Duane Pease officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of arrangements, the family requests that family and friends share special moments and memories of Marshall.
