On Thursday, January 11th, 2018, our most cherished Talmadge Alley passed away peacefully in his 80th year.
One of six children, Talmadge Grayson Alley was born on February 27, 1937, at Whitby, the son of Frank C. and Lois Manna Jones Alley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nyla Maynard, and a brother, Mike Meadows. His sisters Patty Bennett of Massachusetts and Rebecca Williams of Oak Hill and a brother, Kenneth of Oregon, survive.
Talmadge was a well-known and respected jeweler in the Beckley community. He owned and operated Talmadge's Jewelry for 30 years. He had been a police officer in the town of Mabscott and the City of Beckley. His interests included membership in the Beckley Moose Lodge where he was past governor. Talmadge always enjoyed attending and had many friends at the Moose.
In addition to the Alley family, those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Lynn; he was the dear father of Sabrina Richardson and her husband, Tom, Sherry Whitely and husband Mark all of Beckley and Camden Alley of Avon Park, Florida; there are six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and four step children.
On Wednesday, January 17th, at 1:00 pm there will be a "Service of Remembrance" at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Ken Souder will be officiating. Talmadge will be laid to rest in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. His family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will be receiving friends at 11:00 am on Wednesday.
