Sheila Devonne Ellis, age 71, of Scott Ridge Road, Beaver, WV, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.
Born on September 3, 1946, in Beaver, she was the daughter of the late Jack Richmond Sr., and Josephine Harris Richmond.
Mrs. Ellis was retired from Verizon after over 20 years of service and was a former employee of Phillips Machine Service.
She was a member of Blue Jay United Methodist Church, where she participated in the Women's Society Meetings.
Mrs. Ellis enjoyed Senior Friends, Raleigh County Commission on Aging and Greystone Inn events, as well as monthly luncheons with her Shady Spring High School friends at the Raleigh County Memorial Airport Restaurant. She was an avid West Virginia University Mountaineer sports fan and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her former husband and lifelong friend, Thearn H. Ellis Jr., of Beckley; her loving daughter, Theresa Ann Whittaker and husband, George Evert Whittaker II, of Beaver; her siblings, Jack Richmond Jr. and wife, Linda, of Beaver, and Shirley Hayes of Beaver, WV; two grandchildren, Preslei Morgan Whittaker, and Brylee Kate Whittaker; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews also survive.
The family extends special thanks to Bowers Hospice and Hospice of Southern WV for their excellent care and support.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at 1 PM, with Rev. Dave Altizer officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV.
Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 9 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be David Richmond, Brian Richmond, Tyler Richmond, George Whittaker Sr., George Whittaker II, and Dan Dewar.
