Richard Lawrence Bayes, 55, of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018.
Born on July 14, 1962 in Cincinnati, Ohio; he was the son of Richard Milton Bayes and the late Sandra Joyce Lingrell Bayes.
Rick enjoyed hiking with Cassidy and Kyle, boating, drawing, and talking to his dear friends. He knew endless history about the New River Gorge and all of the coal towns there in. He attended Forest Park High School and also spent time at Miami University.
Rick began his career at Rivermen Whitewater where he was river manager for many years. His accomplishments include creating the Gauley River Pre-Plan Map which is still used in river rescues today. Late in his career he worked at ACE Adventure Resort.
Survivors include his daughter, Cassidy Brooke Bayes of Fayetteville; son, Kayle Nathaniel Bayes of Fayetteville; father, Richard Milton Bayes of Cincinnati; and brothers, Thomas Bayes of Cincinnati and Michael Bayes address unknown.
A memorial service will be held at 3 PM, Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Chetty's Pub at Adventures on the Gorge.
