Rheo's Story

Rheo Donald Plumley, 87, of Shady Spring, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 30, 2017, after an extended illness.
Rheo was born in Pear, WV. He was the son of the late George Washie and Lena Bell Toothman Plumley.
Rheo was a coal miner. He loved to deer, turkey, squirrel and coon hunt. Rheo loved singing and playing his guitar. He enjoyed living life to the fullest and loved being around his family and friends. Rheo loved spending time at Bluestone Lake camping, waterskiing and teaching many how to waterski.
Rheo was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church, serving as deacon of the church.
Rheo was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Richmond Plumley, his daughter, Cathy Lynn Stover, his brothers, Amos and Lester Plumley, his sisters, Arbutus Bennett, Ethelene Adkins and Virginia Plumley.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dana Mullins Richmond Plumley and his children: Veronica (Ron) Cox, King George, VA; Joyce (Clyde) Proffitt, Beaver, WV; Shelba (Buck) Ferguson, Fincastle Virginia; Donna (Raymond) Plumley of Fincastle, VA, and son-in-law, David (Tammy) Stover, Charles City. Virginia and step-son. Shawn (Pablita) Mullins, Beckley, WV. Grandchildren: Christopher (Julie) Cox, Heather (Luke) Steelman, Ellen (Jon) Buckner, Jacki (Tim) Lolly, Don (Michelle) Crook, Aimee (Matthew) Dudley, David (Beth) Stover II, Joshua (Mandy) Stover, Jason (Rebecca) Stover, Amber (Zach) Sink, and Brittany Plumley. Step-grandchildren: Tristan, Isaac, Draven Mullins; Sally (Gene) Ward and Joey Billips; Ray Jr (Chrissy), Donnie (Judy), Mikey Plumley and Melissa (Danny) Bivens. Great-grandchildren: MacKenzie, Montgomery, Ella, Amanda, Claire, Evelyn, Silas, Austin, Sawyer, Serenity, Tayrn, Lena, Mattie, Emma, Brody, Jacob, Kayleigh, Shay, Taylor, and Jake. Siblings: Garland Plumley, Lloyd Plumley (Ruth), Rosemary Plumley, Thelma Faye Pyatt and Madeline Redden (James). He is also survived by brothers-in-law, John Wesley (Barbara) Richmond and Roy (Anna) Richmond and sister-in-law, Nancy Hamilton. Several nieces, nephews and many friends, and by his little dog, Buddy.
The family would like to thank the Kissito Brian Center, Fincastle, VA, for all their loving care of Rheo.
A visitation will be held at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Beckley, WV, Saturday, December 2, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Rheo's life will be held at New Salem Baptist Church in Abraham on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor John Wesley Richmond officiating. Burial will follow at the Washington Plumley Cemetery at Plumley Mountain.
