Phyllis's Story

LINDSIDE, WV - Phyllis Arlene Martin Harvey, age 88, of Lindside, WV, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at the Springfield Center in Lindside, WV.
Born February 26, 1929, in Rock Camp, WV, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Fillmore and Cora Ella Lintemuth Martin.
Phyllis was a member of the Rock Camp United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and loved singing with the Choir. She was a cook at the Shale Bank Restaurant in Lindside for 16 years; she was a homemaker and a beloved mother and grandmother.
Phyllis had an uplifting and inspiring personality; she never met a stranger and had a gift to remember each person she came in contact with.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, James Mark Harvey; one son, Stanley Mark Harvey; and twelve brothers and sisters.
Survivors include one son, Steve Harvey and wife Valerie of Lenoir, NC; four daughters, Gail Waddell of Pulaski, VA, Arlene Anderson and husband Dwayne of Ballard, WV, Janice Weeks and husband David of Grottoes, VA, and Jennifer Bennett and husband Jim of Peterstown, WV; nine grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Eugene Fullen and Rev. Robert Baer officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Wikel, WV.
Friends may call from 12:30 PM until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
