Lowell's Story

Lowell "Sonny" Summers Frashure, 82, of Rupert, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 31, 2018, in the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center at Fairlea.
Born August 18, 1935, in Erbacon, he was the son of the late D.D. and Lela Dillon Frashure.
Sonny worked as a steel worker at U.S. Steel in Lorain, OH, and was a member of the Bascom United Methodist Church in Rupert. He enjoyed woodworking, carving and tinkering. Sonny loved being outdoors, astronomy, and metal detecting. Most of all, he was a devoted husband to his late wife Gwen and a loving dad, grandfather and brother.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Gwen Nutter Frashure; 1 brother Leon Frashure; 1 half-sister Lisa Lynn Frashure; and 1 step-sister Patricia "Patty" Nutter.
Survivors include his son Tim Frashure (Lauri) of Columbia Station, OH; his daughter Sheila Mendicino (James) of Mooresville, NC; 2 brothers Larry Frashure (Alice) and Charles "Chuck" Frashure (Bonnie), all of VA; 2 sisters Alicia "Tish" Intile (Dan) of Quinwood and Elaine Callison (Billy) of VA; 1 half-brother John Frashure (Norma) of FL; 3 half-sisters Donna Nutter (Joe), Thelma Wilfong (Dwight), and Mercedez "Marty" Frashure, all of VA; 1 step-brother Leo Velasquez (Pam) of VA; 1 step-brother-in-law George "Eddie" Nutter of Quinwood; 4 grandchildren Jim and Scott Mendicino and Anna and Ben Frashure; 4 great-grandchildren Bailey, Samantha, Caden, and Evan Mendicino; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, in the Bascom United Methodist Church, Rupert, with Pastor Jonathan Dierdorff officiating. Entombment will be in the Wallace Memorial Mausoleum, Clintonville.
