James Leon Schoolcraft, 70, of Charmco, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018, at his home.
Born June 30, 1947, in Rainelle, he was the son of the late Adam and Francis Holliday Schoolcraft.
James retired from driving trucks for Burns Trucking and was a member of the Gordon Freewill Baptist Church at Hines, where he served as a deacon.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 5 brothers Robert, Eugene, Donald, Maynard and Junior Schoolcraft; and 3 sisters Beulah Schoolcraft, Maggie Hundley, and Edna Hawkins.
Survivors include his devoted and loving wife Annabelle Caruthers Schoolcraft; 1 son James Schoolcraft Jr. and wife Jennifer of North Carolina; 3 daughters April Schoolcraft, Crystal Schoolcraft, both of Charmco, and Jamie Ford and husband Matt of Rainelle; 1 brother Virgil "Johnny" Schoolcraft of Clarksburg; 4 grandchildren Darren McClanahan, Dylan Schoolcraft, Peyton and Jacob Ford; 1 great-grandchildren Gavin McClanahan; a very special friend Bethany Thomas; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, February 16, at Smathers Funeral Chapel, with a service at 7:30 p.m., with Pastor Jack Dempsey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of sympathy be made to Gordon Freewill Baptist Church, P.O. Box 994, Rupert, WV 25984.
