James's Story

James Otto Kinsler, entered into his Heavenly Home on High on Sunday, December 10, 2017, after a short illness and his first hospitalization of his life.
Otto was born on January 16, 1930 in Sun, WV, son of the late Anthony and Lucy Wingrove Kinsler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Marie Byers and Louise Harper; his four brothers, Elvin, William, Ralph and Carl Kinsler; and his son-in-law, David Daniels.
On June 10, 1950, he married the love of his life, Bernice Ann Williams. They had a wonderful 67 years of marriage and best friends for 70 years. Otto and Bernice had two loving daughters, Brenda Kay Kennedy and Anna Jane Daniels.
Otto retired from the mining industry after 38 years and was also a retired member of UMWA Local Union 5770. Otto and Bernice are members of Sophia United Methodist Church for 53 years. He attended Mt. Hope High School where he loved boxing and softball. Otto played softball and basketball and coached numerous mining teams. He loved sports, following the West Virginia Mountaineers, Cincinnati Reds, the Washington Redskins, and several bowling teams. He loved work, family, the game of horseshoes, and fishing and hunting. Otto and his wife, Bernice loved "beating" their great-grandkids in a game of Corn Hole at the River House on the Greenbrier River. Otto will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He loved life and living it.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife and best friend, Bernice Williams Kinsler; daughters, Brenda Kinsler Kennedy and husband, Gary, and Anna Kinsler Daniels; grandchildren, Rachel Amtower and husband, Brad, Alicia Warden and husband, Karl, and D.J. Daniels and wife, Jill; great-grandchildren, Ashley Amtower, Austin Amtower, Trey Warden, Hannah Warden, Emma Daniels and Luke Daniels; and "Scruffy" and "Kitty".
Serving as pallbearers are Gary Kennedy, D.J. Daniels, Brad Amtower, Karl Warden, Trey Warden and Austin Amtower. Honorary pallbearer will be John Runyon.
The family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon, December 14, 2017 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor David Rumberg officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of the Good Shepherd in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
