Jackie Wayne Goins Sr., 67, of Brethren Church Rd., Crab Orchard, passed away November 29, 2017, Bower's Hospice House after a courageous year-long battle with Glioblastoma.
He was born on Father's Day, June 17, 1950, in McAlpin, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Pete" and Leola Goins of Mabscott, and a sister, Carolyn "Eleanor" Jones of Mabscott.
He was a retired coal miner who enjoyed restoring antique cars and riding horses with his grandchildren and special friends. He also enjoyed a variety of music, western films and reading history documentaries.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Anita, of Crab Orchard; his children, Denita (Donnie) Walker of MacArthur, Jackie Jr. of Crab Orchard and Jennifer (Richie) Milam of Sophia; grandchildren, Vince Walker, Zachary Goins, Welsey Goins, Timothy Goins, John Ara, MacKenzie Milam, Dean Milam and one great-grandson; also survived by two brothers, William Eugene "Bill" Goins and Charles Warren Goins both of Mabscott; special friends Frankie Crouch and Rodger Pierce.
Memorial services will be held at 2pm Sunday, December 3, 2017, in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Services will be conducted by Bishop Clarence Lee of the Coal City Church of God and music provided by Spirits of Harmony. Family will receive friends from 12 until 2pm. Committal services will follow at the Sutphin Cemetery on Brethren Church Rd.
Son and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
