Iris Cook, age 93, of Maxwell Hill, Beckley, WV, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017, at Harper Mills Nursing Home.
Born on August 6, 1924, in Wyoming County, she was the daughter of the late Bernice L. Cook. Iris was a member of Maxwell Hill Baptist Church in Beckley, and had shared her home with her sister Ina Cook, and brother Chester Ellison Jr. at Maxwell Hill for many years.
Iris was a retired employee of the Kroger Company, where she worked in the produce and dairy department.
In additon to her mother, she was preceded in death by sisters, Ina Cook, Esther Cook, and Alma Moran, and by brothers Warren Tolliver, Troas H. Ellison Sr., and Chester A. Ellison Jr.
Those survivors left behind include a sister, Iva Halsey of Bellevue, Ohio, nephews, John Halsey and his wife Lori of Bellevue, Ohio, T.H. Ellison Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Maple Fork, and Bill Moran and his wife, Gloria, of Tupelo, Mississippi; nieces, Norma Jean Horner and her husband, Ronald, of Waxahachie, Texas, and Shirley Ann Moran Page of Fitchburg, Massachusetts; a sister-in-law, Ruby Tolliver, of Waxahachie, Texas.
Funeral services will be conducted at Maxwell Hill Baptist Church, 301 Teel Road, Beckley, WV, on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at 11AM with Pastor Ken Killen officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the church.
