Harry Pete Acosta Sr. Harry Pete Acosta Sr., 77, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019.
Harry had been a superintendent in construction. He was also retired from the Army after 20 years of service. He belonged to American Legion GI Joe Post #244, Disabled American Veterans, and was a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Bessie Acosta; 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Harry is survived by his wife, Marilyn Mathis; children, Harry Acosta, Jr. (JoAnn), John Gilbert Acosta, and Suzanne Janssen; stepchildren, Katherine Hart, Julie A. Dewberry (Darren Dixon), Susan L. Popham (Mark), Charles T. Dewberry, and Raymond J. Rossi (Cynthia Lee Stevens); grandchildren, John Kullman, Steven Acosta, and Samantha Acosta; step-grandchildren, Dustin Dewberry, Mark E. Popham, Rachel Brown, Aaron Popham, Rebecca Popham, Nathan Popham, Logan Hart, Lucas Hart, Noah Rizwan, Caleb Dewberry, Addison Roop and Canon Roop; many great grandchildren; sisters, Josephine "Josie" Steelman, Nancy White, Carmen Broff, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 2pm-8pm Wednesday at Owen Funeral Home - Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road. Funeral Mass 10am Thursday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 5505 Bardstown Road. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Beckley, West Virginia.
