Floella's Story

Floella Muriel Holt Showalter, 96, formerly of Raleigh County, died September 8, 2017 at Eldercare of Ripley.
Born November 23, 1920 at McAlpin, a daughter of the late Robert Pierce and May Rowe Holt.
She was a Rosie the Riveter during WWII and worked at a war plant in Illinois.
Reared in Pemberton, later moving to MacArthur, she married her late husband, Samuel Stanley "Jake" Showalter and moved to the Showalter Farm near LeRoy in 1950 where her children were raised.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her twin, Frederick Murray Holt, who died as an infant, and other brothers, Robert Terrence Holt and Harold H. Holt and sisters, Audrey Holt Moore and Virginia Maxine Holt Cole.
Surviving children, Emma Louise Wilkinson (Melvin), Sandyville; Robert Harold Showalter (Sharon), Elizabeth and Neil Showalter of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Michelle Cook and Cliff (Lisa) Wilkinson; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Breanna Wilkinson; Emily and Samantha Cook; Michael White and Whitney (James) Chavey. Others include a brother and sister, Neil and Nancy Holt Stewart, both of Beckley and sister-in-law Jean Rogers Holt of Pennsylvania.
Service 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Burial in Prosperity Cemetery, Wirt County.
