Eugene "Frosty" Carrington Foster, 100, of Fayetteville, went home on Monday, October 30, 2017, surrounded by his family.
He was born on May 31, 1917 at Marie, WV. Frosty was raised in Hinton and was the oldest son of Oscar and Hattie Lyons Foster. He grew up in Hinton, where he met his beloved late wife of 53 years, Mary Jane Davidson. His brother and his wife, Milton "Footie" and Patty Foster preceded him in death.
Frosty was a member of Fayetteville Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. He was a World War II US Army veteran with 11 years of service to his country and served briefly during the Korean Conflict.
He retired from Union Carbide at Alloy where he was the engineer operating the locomotive.
Frosty worked over 50 plus years for Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home in his spare time and after retirement.
Frosty was active in the community of Fayetteville and was voted Citizen of the Year in 2008. He was a member of LaFayete Masonic Lodge #57, Fayetteville Rotary, Scottish Rites, Shriners, and American Legion Post 149.
Survivors include his nephews: Keith and Angie Foster, Randy and Gena Davidson, James Peale and Ginny Davidson; and niece, Debbie Dawson and Bob Tabke. He leaves behind his faithful friend, Dorlina Kincaid, with whom he shared many wonderful memories. Also, he was grateful to Larry Hess for keeping him busy at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank all those that helped care for him during his illness, Charles and Sherry Kincaid, Unna Smith, Martha Brubaker, Linda Shieler and many others for all their love and support during this time. Also, to Brian and Adam for all their help and support. He will be missed by the community and all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 PM, Friday, November 3, 2017 at Fayetteville Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Bob Wood and Pastor Bill Kincaid officiating. Burial will be beside his wife, Mary, at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
Friends may call from 11 am to 1 pm Friday at the church.
