Edward Monroe Lyons, age 75, of Cranberry, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at his home following a sudden illness.
Born on February 18, 1942, in Fayette County, he was the son of the late Edward Gruter Lyons and Goldie Mammie Lyons.
Monroe was retired from Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in the Maintenance Department. He was a member of Maple Fork Baptist Church and was a US Army Veteran. Monroe enjoyed fishing and collecting Dale Earnhart memorabilia.
In addition to his parents, Monroe was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Bell Kennedy and Anna Mae Arthur; by brothers, Charlie Lyons, Carl Lyons, Wayne Lyons and Glen Lyons.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 29 years, Inis Grimes Lyons; a son, Mike Lyons of Coal City; step children, Michael Young of Kansas City, Missouri, Billy Young of Cleveland, Ohio, and Robin Young of Prosperity; a brother, Rev. Frankie Lyons and wife, Peggy, of Beckley, and a sister, Susie Murphy of Beckley; a granddaughter, Kimberly Lyons, ten step grandchildren, and 17 step great-grandchildren, and a special friend, Aubrey Richmond, also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at Maple Fork Baptist Church on Friday, January 19, 2018, at noon with Pastor Jim Bowyer officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 9 PM on Thursday at the church, and also one hour prior to the services on Friday at the church.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
