Edward Lee Lich, age 77, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017, surrounded by his family. He carried throughout his life a fantastic sense of humor, love of travel and a passion for coaching kids.
A bit more about Ed:
Born in Oak Hill, West Virginia, to Mr. & Mrs. Frank and Anna Lich. Ed was a 1958 graduate of Collins High School and a proud alumnus of Marshall University. His Alumni pride would come as no surprise to those that know him well as he would often be found talking about the Marshall football team throughout the year. He served in the US Army from 1963-1965. After the Army he married Jane in 1969; he lived in Staunton, VA, for 34 years. During this time, he worked for Dupont and loved coaching his 3 kids in a variety of sports. Retirement brought him to Collierville, TN, to live near 2 of his granddaughters and continue his love of coaching.
He is survived by a wife, 2 sons, a daughter and 5 grandchildren. This includes his wife Jane Neudek Lich; his oldest son Edward Lee Lich and wife Buffy of Washington, NC; middle son Jason Edward Lich and special friend Kim Jones of Seattle, WA; and daughter Emily Jane Farrell and husband Christopher Farrell of Collierville, TN.
The grandchildren held a special place in his heart and were the joy of his life: Catherine Jane Lich, Clarissa Rose Farrell, Annalise Mary Farrell, and two step-grandchildren Montgomery McClure and Samantha McClure.
Ed was a supporter of numerous children and veterans organizations and in lieu of flowers a gift can be made in his name to https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/, https://www.stjude.org/, or https://www.smiletrain.org/.
A memorial to celebrate Ed's life will be planned for the spring in Oak Hill, WV.
