Edna Burnside Gravely, age 98, of Beckley, WV, died March 5, 2018.
Born on April 26, 1919, at Rock Creek, WV, she was the daughter of the late Charles Burnside and Launa Williams Burnside Bradford.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Carlisle Gravely, grandson, James, son-in-law, Jack Mays, and by nine brothers and sisters.
Her favorite things were spending time with her family, working in her vegetable garden, tending to her many flowers, doing crafts, quilting and playing rummy.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Margaret Mays, Freda (Rick) Jarrell, and Rita (Bill) Beasley; seven precious grandchildren, Nona Gunther, Angie (Eric) Evans, Jack (Kelli) Mays, Timmy (Diana) Mays, Robby (Jackie) Jarrell, Robin Jarrell, and Steven (Heather) Beasley; 11 great grandchildren, D.J., Jasmine, Andrew, Aleksus, Devon, Megan, Jessica, Logan, Luke, Reily and Tanner.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at 11 AM, with Pastor Roger Pauley officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Timmy and Jack Mays, Robby Jarrell, Bill Beasley, Steven Beasley, Michael Wheeler and Mike Gravely. Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Jarrell and D.J. Gunther.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff of Greystone for their loving care of our mother, and also to Dr. S. Hasan and the staff at the Bowers Hospice House.
