It is with deep sadness that we share with you the passing of our dear Edna Mae Dillon on November 22, 2017, and we are joyful for what awaits her in heaven as she joins her husband, Harold Dillon, her son Samuel Dillon, her brother Harmon Caldwell, her grandson Jason Dillon, her son-in-law Eddie Bostic and many other loved ones.
Edna was born in McCoy, VA on April 3, 1924 to Courtney Caldwell and Lucy Albert Caldwell. She lost her mother at a very tender young age, but the love of her very special Aunt Lena molded her into an unselfish Christian full of unconditional love for others. Edna and Harold made their home in Kopperston where they made growing up fun and carefree and where she continued to reside with her daughter Susan.
Edna was a marvelous homemaker who could make old things look new, simple food taste wonderful and win the love of every child she met. She was a member of the Delilah Methodist Church where she was a beloved Sunday School teacher for many years and a choir and women's group member.
Edna leaves behind the broken hearts of sisters Hazel Hale and Elizabeth Hale both of Blacksburg, VA, a son Harold Dillon and wife Kathy of Gautier, MS, daughters Sandra Bostic of Apex, NC, and Susan Lusk and husband Leon of Kopperston. Sandra and Susan have provided her care together for many years.
Survivors also include eight grandchildren, Julie Hussey and husband Don of Apex, NC, Aimee Page and husband David of Holly Springs, NC, Stephanie Duncan and husband Casey of Calera, AL, Brian Dillon and wife Jennifer of Midlothian, VA, Clay Dillon of Oceana, Kelly Bailey and husband Donald of Oceana, Monica Carlucci and husband Robert of Glen Daniel, Stuart Lusk and wife Candice of Kopperston, seventeen great-grandchildren, Jerry and Joshua Hussey of Apex, NC, Amber Emerson and husband Zach of New Hill, NC, Carter and Caroline Duncan of Calera, AL, Abigail and Elliott Sweeny of Midlothian, VA, Konnor Dillon of Alderson, Alexandria and Brooke Bailey of Oceana, Robert Jr, Joseph and Ryan Carlucci of Glen Daniel, Marine Trevor Anderson of Cherry Point, NC, Abby, Kyndal and Ian Lusk of Kopperston.
A daughter-in-law, Jeanette Dillon of Oceana and a loving niece and caregiver, Donna Dillon of Kopperston. Edna's final days were spent at Bower's Hospice House in Beckley, WV and we will be forever grateful for the care she was given, and the compassion shown to her family. We pray that God will continue to bless their efforts. We also want to thank the loving members of Delilah Methodist Church and Minister Ron Acord for all of their caring and support. A special thank you to Stafford Family Funeral Home for their caring and excellent service.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday November 26, 2017 at the Delilah Methodist Church in Oceana with Rev. Ron Acord officiating. Pallbearers will be family. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 2:00 PM until time of services on Sunday November 26th at the church. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Edna to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, P.O. Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802-1472.
