Our beloved husband, father, brother and uncle, Detzel Andrew Young, age 53, of Soak Creek, WV, passed away at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley on Sunday, September 24, 2017.
Born on January 19, 1964, in Beckley, he was the son of the late Lowell Thomas Young and Lorene Ellen Bell Young.
"Dee" was a disabled construction worker and was of the Christian faith. He had spent his childhood at Coal City and had lived most of his adult life in Soak Creek.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his uncle, Kenneth "Brigham" Young.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife, Deborah Fann Young; a son, Jordan Andrew Young, at home; six siblings, Lawrence L. Young and wife, Julie, of White Oak, Charlene Young and companion, Bob, of Orlando, Florida, Darlene Hodges and husband, Rick, of Beckley, Arlene Stewart and husband, Mark, of Boiling Spring Lake, NC, Ann Griffith and husband, Steve, of Beckley, and Belinda Sears and husband, Michael, of Cool Ridge. Several loving nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held to Celebrate the Life of Detzel "Dee" Young on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the Ury Community Baptist Church with Pastor Kenneth Lambert officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made in Detzel's honor to the Pioneer Community Bank, P. O. Box 388, Sophia, WV 25921 in Debbie Young's name.
