Darrell Wayne Coburn, age 69, of Ghent, WV, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at his home.
He was born on April 28, 1948, in Princeton, WV.
Wayne lived most of his life in the Ghent and Cool Ridge area. He worked for Houchins Block for 15 years and also worked and retired from Massie Reclamation after 22 years of service.
His hobbies included 4 wheelers, cooking, and gardening until his illness made him unable. Wayne was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, especially when it came to plowing a garden or getting wood ready for the winter. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elsie and Noah White, Arthur and Ethyl Coburn, his father, William Darrell Coburn, sister, Ann Lane, grandson Bryan Boggess, and nephews, Rick Lane and John Akers.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of forty years, Jerri Byrd Coburn; mother, Dora White Coburn; daughter, Mary Coburn of Stoneville, NC, daughter Sarah Coburn-Yates (Jon) of Bingdon, VA, stepson, Jay Boggess (Wendy) of Salem, VA; brothers, Jessie (Linda) of Riverside, NJ, Gary of Cool Ridge, and Kenny (Lillie) of Cool Ridge; sisters, Barbara (Keith) Lilly of Cool Ridge, and Arlene (Rick) Akers of York, SC; a brother-in-law, Mason Lane of Cool Ridge, 5 grandchildren, Jason, Nikki, Bethani, Ricky, and Lucas, and one great grandchild Barry, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 2 PM, with Rev. Orville Setliff officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. Friends may visit with the family from noon until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
