Danny Lee Foster, age 65, of Jumping Branch, WV, passed away peacefully at his home on November 3, 2017, following a long illness of liver cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Born December 16, 1951 in Union, WV, he was the son of the late Paul Raymond Foster and the late Emma Marie Shrader Foster Petrey.
Danny served in the US Army from 1969 until 1972. Danny worked for Orders Construction building the New River Bridge and later becoming a coal miner for 18 years for Eastern Associated Coal Harris #2. Danny was an entrepreneur and owner and operator of several businesses.
Danny was an avid billiards player and participated in many professional tournaments. He enjoyed playing golf and won several tournaments in his lifetime. He was a fan of baseball and a loyal Yankees fan. He enjoyed serving and socializing with his many patrons over the years.
Danny's proudest accomplishment was building his daughter's home by hand, a lifelong dream of his. He loved spending time with his pride and joy, his granddaughter. Danny also helped rear and assist several family members.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Keith Foster, a granddaughter, Dandaneia Gregan Carr; three brothers, Ricky, Joey, and Gary Foster, and one sister, Dana Foster Blakenship.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Carolyn, one daughter Tracey Lee Foster-Long and granddaughter DaNaylee Alexia Long, both of Jumping Branch, WV. Also surviving are two brothers, Calvin Foster and his wife Lynn of Hinton, Kenny Ray Meadows and his wife Lisa of Hinton; three sisters, Patty Foster, of Richmond, VA, Alice Sprouse and husband David of Talcott, WV, and Cathy Foster of Roanoke, VA. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the hospice workers, Tammy Judy, Connie O'Neal, Lisa Patton Woods, for providing excellent care to Danny and going above and beyond in assisting his family, as well as special thanks to Dr. Kelly Pitsengarvger and The University of Kentucky for their outstanding care given.
At the request of the deceased, cremation and a private family memorial will be held at a later date with the Reverend Ernest Calfee Jr, presiding.
