Catlin's Story

Text size

FORT COLLINS - On Sunday, March 11th, 2018, Catlin 'Boo' Spence, age 27, left this life.
He was a popular student from Shady Spring High School who received his electrician's apprenticeship from the Job Corp in Kentucky. Soon after, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Although an injury left him blind, he was never deterred from living life to its fullest. He travelled country-wide with friends and family enjoying camping, hiking, concerts and parties, touching lives at every stop. He had finally settled in Ft. Collins CO., where he quietly passed away in his sleep.
He is survived by heartbroken friends, roommates and family including mother Amy Greathead Smith, brothers Dustin Spence and Tristan Greathead as well as a sister, Jayla Smith and grandparents Sam and Karen Greathead.
He was welcomed into Heaven by grandmothers Doris Yost Greathead and Betty Spence.
His life will be celebrated by family including numerous aunts, uncles and cousins along with close friends at the New Life Baptist Church in White Oak, WV on Saturday, March 17th, 2018 from 4 pm to 6pm with Reverend Rodney Allen officiating.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Catlin's name to either of his favorite organizations, The Raleigh County Animal Shelter or the Wounded Warriors Foundation.
