Betty Christina Wood Buchanan Dearing, age 87, of Beckley, WV, passed away at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley on Friday, October 13, 2017.
Born on April 2, 1930, in Camp Creek, she was the daughter of the late Henry Burton Wood and Leola Harvey Wood.
Mrs. Dearing was a homemaker, and had worked in the family business of Dearing Brothers at Prosperity for several years. Mrs. Dearing was a local artist, having served as President and member of the Beckley Art Group for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Dearing, a son Larry Buchanan, an infant great grandson, Brian Scott, by brothers, Bobby and Sherman McBride, by sisters, Jean, Mary, and Brenda, and by two infant brothers.
Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her children, Sherry Buchanan Via and husband Roger of Hernando, Florida, and Lynda Christina Dearing of Beckley; a beloved daughter-in-law Carolyn Buchanan Garten and her husband Eldon of Stanaford Acres.
A brother Danny McBride of Fireco, and a sister Judith Ann of Ohio.
Six grandchildren, Rae Ann Fields and husband Dean, Vicki Hutchinson, Ronald E. Hancock and wife Jennifer, Kip Buchanan and wife Heather, Scott Buchanan and wife Jennifer, and Brett Buchanan and wife Ivy, and ten great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at noon with Rev. George Mandakunis Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
