Asher Harold Barton, 77, of Fireco, WV, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital, due to a sudden illness.
Born on Feb. 15, 1940, in Hinton, WV, son of the late William R. Barton and Mabel Lilly Barton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Modena Barton, sisters, Leola Williams, Lilalee Ream, sons, Asher Barton II and Patrick Barton.
Asher was married to loving wife Patricia Joan Meadows Barton for 48 years. Others left to cherish are daughters, Penelope Trent and husband Enoch of Beckley, and Heidi Barton of Midway, grandchildren, Emily Weddle, Keli Weddle, Kayla Barton, Justin Trent, Elijah Trent, Jordan Trent, and Emily Trent.
Asher enjoyed everything about cameras. He worked as a photographer for the US Navy; he photographed newborns in hospitals in Kansas City, Missouri, Charleston, WV, and St. Paul, Minnesota. Asher loved taking wedding photos and family portraits. Technician for Volkswagen of America, coal miner, and UMWA member. Asher will be sadly missed by family, friends, and his dog, Big Boy.
In keeping with his wishes, Asher donated his body to the human gift registry at the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine, Lewisburg, WV.
A celebration of Asher's life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Fireco Independent Freewill Baptist Church, Fireco, WV, with Pastor Orville Hughes officiating.
