Alda Frances "Susie" (Lilly) Reed, 64, lost her valiant battle with cancer and went to be with the Lord on November 7, 2017. She died at home with family by her side.
She was born on February 24, 1953 at Fort Pickett Army Base in Blackstone, VA. She was the daughter of the late Alphonso and Shirley Lilly of Piney View. She was the oldest of seven children and dearly loved her siblings: the late Gary Lilly of Beckley; Danny Lilly of Piney View; Randy Lilly of Beckley, Peggy (Lilly) Ellison of Kannapolis, NC; Jacqueline (Lilly) Bennett of Petrolia, Canada; and the late Johnny Lilly of Prince.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Sheila (Reed) Adkins.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband David of Beckley; son David, II "Boog" and his wife Tara of Lawrence, KS; daughter Suzanne Reed of Pittsburgh, PA; son Scott of Beckley, and granddaughter Brianna Reed of Beckley. She was a loving grandmother to her other seven grandchildren; Natalie Akins, Christopher "Bubby" Adkins, Raegan Reed, Connor Reed, Trinity Reed, Dakota Reed, and Brianna Tabor. She leaves behind a very large extended family.
Susie was a proud graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and took classes at Beckley College. She was owner of By-Pass Auto Sales but had many jobs throughout her life. She previously worked for Raleigh County Schools, FMRS, and Henry's Radiator. She was widely regarded as a strong caring woman who worked her entire life to support and care for her family. She was a devout Christian who attended the Stanaford New Beginnings Church. The love and support from the church was essential during this struggle.
The family truly appreciates all of the efforts displayed by the Cancer Treatment Centers of America and will forever be grateful and appreciative of the care and treatment Susie received while a patient at the Philadelphia location and once home by Hospice of Southern West Virginia.
